MONSTROSA (Roman)

Schauerroman meets Body Horror: Eine Opernsängerin nimmt im Kampf mit fragwürdigen Idealmaßen und ihren eigenen Dämonen monströse Züge an – mit ungeahnten Folgen. Isabella Vlcek, eine übergewichtige, essgestörte Opernsängerin ohne Engagements, sucht in einer psychiatrischen Klinik Heilung für sich und ihre Stimme. Als sie auf eine Clique eng verschworener Mitpatient:innen trifft, die sie ablehnen und seltsame Rituale abhalten, brechen alte Traumata auf. Von Albträumen gequält, muss Isa mitansehen, wie ihr Körper sich verwandelt. Während sie mit ihrem neuen, monströsen Selbst kämpft, beginnt auch beim Rest der Gruppe eine Verwandlung … Rhea Krčmářová schafft eine packende Reflexion über die Entfremdung vom eigenen Körper und den Preis virtueller Schönheitsnormen.

Böhmen ist der Ozean (Erzählungen) Das Wasser schlängelt sich um die Orte Böhmens, als wären es Inseln. Mal tritt es über die Ufer, mal verschluckt es Land und Leute, eine Verbindungslinie, die hinter den Eisernen Vorhang führt, oder kuriose Urgewalt, die Leben und Tod bringt. Und es birgt Rusalkas, Wassermänner und Frühlingsgöttinnen, die Zeugen einer anderen Zeit sind, Vergangenes ans Tageslicht holen oder für immer in den Tiefen des Ozeans verschwinden lassen. Rhea Krčmářová erzählt in ihren Geschichten von den Spuren, die der Kommunismus hinterlassen hat. Emigration und Sprachverlust machen die Figuren zu Suchenden: nach der eigenen Herkunft, nach einem kleinen Stück Heimat. Dabei schafft sie eine Sprache, die wie das Wasser in ihren Geschichten als verbindendes Element durch die Geschichten fließt – von bezaubernder Musikalität und Vielstimmigkeit.
